Local Students Explore Robotics Solutions to Airport Operations Through Innovative Partnership between Kamloops Airport and School District 73
Kamloops Airport and School District 73 have partnered to engage local elementary school students in developing robotic solutions using Lego robotics for airport operations. Guided by their teachers and the school district’s technology coordinator, students toured the airport to identify real-world challenges and then designed and built robots to improve elements of the passenger experience and support airport staff.
The students proudly showcased their robots, which included solutions for accessibility, customer service, language translation, security, snow removal, and vegetation control, at a community event held at Kamloops Airport. The initiative received positive feedback from airport stakeholders and is set to continue annually.
This partnership aims to spark students’ interest in aviation and technology, providing them with valuable skills and potential career insights.
“As a community partner, Kamloops Airport welcomes the opportunity to work with our local schools to spark interest in the aviation industry. This program offers students insights into various aspects of airport operations, while providing an opportunity to expand their creative technology skills and potentially explore a career in aviation.
