Greater Moncton International Airport Authority Achieves Level 2 Airport Carbon Accreditation
GREATER MONCTON, NB – The Greater Moncton International Airport Authority (GMIAA) has been awarded Level 2 Reduction Airport Carbon Accreditation by Airports Council International (ACI). This prestigious recognition underscores the commitment to reducing the carbon footprint and promoting sustainable practices within the aviation sector.
The Airport Carbon Accreditation program is the only institutionally endorsed global carbon management certification program for airports. It independently assesses and recognizes the efforts of airports to manage and reduce their carbon emissions, providing a unique common framework and tools for active carbon management with measurable results.
To achieve Level 2 Reduction accreditation, GMIAA demonstrated a commitment to reducing scope 1 and 2 emissions and showed a reduction in emissions for the calendar year 2023, based on the rolling average of the past three years’ emissions, excluding 2020.
We are excited to receive this recognition from Airports Council International.
This milestone reflects our dedication to sustainability and our proactive approach to reducing our carbon emissions. We believe that environmental responsibility is essential not only for our community but for the future of the aviation industry.”
This accreditation aligns with Vantage’s network-wide goal of contributing to global efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainable development in the aviation sector. We are continually exploring new ways to enhance our operations while minimizing environmental impact.
